The winding road along Vietnam's coastline connecting the country's important cities and towns has borne witness to many twists and turns in the recent history. Built in the 18th century by Vietnamese soldiers and mandarins, from which its name derived, the road takes you from the historical and cultural treasures of Hanoi to World Heritages sites in Phong Nha, Hue, Hoi An, from the pristine beaches of Danang, Quy Nhon, Nha Trang, Phan Thiet to the swinging traffic and hectic business pace of Ho Chi Minh City. You will also have a chance to set foot on the legendary HCM Road, or previously called HCM trail, and interact with hospitable local people as well as landscape that are exotic beyond imagination.

ITINERARY
Day 01: Saigon - Phan Thiet
Overland to Phan Thiet via a rubber and dragon-fruit plants en route. Arrive in Phan Thiet City. Transfer to the hotel. Afternoon city tour to visit sand dunes and enjoy swimming at Mui Ne Beach.

Day 02: Phan Thiet - Nha Trang (B)
Morning free at leisure for swimming or relax on the beach. Afternoon overland to Nha Trang via Ca Na Beach and Po Klong Gia Rai Cham Towers in Phan Rang Town. Arrive in Nha Trang. Transfer to the hotel. Free at leisure.

Day 03: Nha Trang (B)
Morning boat cruise to visit Tri Nguyen Acquarium, Mun and Tam Island. Afternoon tour to visit Long Son Pagoda Po Nagar Cham Towers, and Dam Market.

Day 04: Nha Trang - Qui Nhon (B)
Morning free at leisure for swimming or relax on the beach. Afternoon overland to Qui Nhon via Dai Lanh Beach en route. Arrive in Qui Nhon City. Transfer to the hotel. Free at leisure.

Day 05: Qui Nhon - Hoi An (B)
Overland to Hoi An via My Lai massacre site in Quang Ngai, where hundreds of villagers were indiscriminately fired upon in 1968. Arrive in Hoi An Town. Transfer to the hotel. Free at leisure.

Day 06: Hoi An - My Son - Hoi An (B)
Morning city tour to visit Hoi An ancient Town, Japanese covered Bridge, Chinese Conference Halls, Phung Hung ancient House, market, shops. Afternoon overland visit My Son Sanctuary, the ancient Capital of Cham Kingdom during the 7th to the 13th century.

Day 07: Hoi An - Da Nang - Hue (B)
Overland to Hue via the Marble Mountains, Museum of Cham Sculpture in Da Nang City, Hai Van Pass Lang Co lagoon en route. Arrive in Hue. Transfer to the hotel. Free at leisure.

Day 08: Hue (B)
Morning boat cruise on Huong River to visit the Thien Mu Pagoda and ending up at the Mausoleum Park of Emperor Minh Mang. Afternoon tour to visit the Mausoleum Parks of Emperors Tu Duc and Khai Dinh.

Day 09: Hue - Dong Hoi (B)
Morning tour to visit the Imperial Citadel and Dong Ba Market. Afternoon overland to Dong Hoi Town. Transfer to the hotel. Free at leisure.

Day 10: Dong Hoi - Phong Nha - Vinh (B)
Morning tour to visit Phong Nha Cavern, formed about 250 million years ago and recognized as World Natural Heritage site. Afternoon overland to Vinh City. Transfer to the hotel. Free at leisure.

Day 11: Vinh - Ha Noi (B)
Overland to Hanoi via the Dinh & Le dynasty temples in Hoa Lu, an ancient capital of Vietnam. Arrive in Hanoi. Transfer to the hotel. Free at leisure.

Day 12: Ha Noi (B)
Full day city tour to visit Hochiminh's Mausoleum and Museum, House on Stilts, One-Pillared Pagoda, History Museum, West Lake, Quan Thanh Temples and Tran Quoc Pagoda.

Day 13: Ha Noi - Ha Long (B)
Morning tour to visit the Literature Temple, Hoan Kiem Lake, Ngoc Son Temple and take 01-hour pedicab ride to the Old French Quarters. Afternoon overland to Ha Long Bay Arrive in Halong City. Transfer to the hotel. Free at leisure.

Day 14: Ha Long (B,L)
Full day boat cruise in Halong Bay to visit Dau Go, Thien Cung, Sung Sot grottos and enjoy swimming. Seafood lunch on board. Afternoon back to the hotel. Free at leisure.

Day 15: Ha Long - Ha Noi (B)
Overland back to Hanoi via Dong Trieu Pottery Village en route. Arrive in Hanoi. Transfer to the hotel. Afternoon free at leisure or go shopping at the Dong Xuan Market. Evening enjoy the water puppet show.

Day 16: Ha Noi - Saigon (B)
Free at leisure until transfer to the airport for the flight back to Saigon.
